Amazon AVS Testing: Voicebot-enabled Devices Offer Intuitive and Engaging Experience

- December 17, 2019

By Brad (Biju) Oommen Originally published in FUTURE OF WORK NEWS Amazon AVS Testing: Voicebot-enabled Devices Offer Intuitive and Engaging Experience By Biju Oommen December 16, 2019 Within the realm of digital communications, digital voice assistants are gaining momentum, as they permit natural hands-free interactions, allowing us to communicate easily with voice-enabled devices. The beneficial strategy in a customer-centric functional scenario would be to deploy voice assistants and voice bots (computer programs that handle voice conversations and are driven by natural language processing and artificial intelligence. Examples of well-known voice assistants are Amazon’s Alexa, Google Assistant, Microsoft’s Cortana, Samsung’s Bixby, and Apple’s Siri. For the above scenarios, from a developer’s perspective, certified development kits serve a very useful purpose. They can expeditiously and cost effectively set up solutions/a...

Addressing the Limitations of Ethernet and PoE

- March 26, 2018

Addressing the Limitations of Ethernet and PoE By Biju Oommen Originally published in Cable Technology Feature Article First standardized in 1983 as IEEE ( News - Alert ) 802.3 today’s Ethernet technology with its several variations, is ubiquitous as the de facto transport technology for IP networking. The technology has been continuously developed and enhanced over the decades since its initial implementations. Among the latest expansions is the capability to transmit electrical power over the network cabling along with the data. To date, Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) technology has vastly expanded the kinds of applications that system integrators and installers can support. Many more are expected to emerge Yet the technology does have some pesky limitations: namely distance, cable type, and available power at remote stations. 1)Distance A standard Ethernet segment is limited to 328 feet (100 meters) in length over standa...

Wi-Fi Controller-less AP Managed On-premises or in the Cloud: The Choice is Yours

- August 16, 2019

By Brad (Biju) Oommen Originally published in Internet Telephony Magazine August 16, 2019 Wi-Fi Controller-less Access Point which is managed on prem or in the cloud…the choice is yours Fig. A Grandstream Networks GWN7630 Wi-Fi Access Point There is one maxim that applies to Wi-Fi access point (AP) network deployments, “deliver reliable and optimal wireless connectivity…which is affordable, easy to deploy and manage”. Nowadays, APs are equipped with an embedded controller. Cloud Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) Wi-Fi controller solutions are also available to deploy and manage secure Wi-Fi networks across disparate locations using a web browser and mobile apps. This means with either of the mentioned approaches, you can setup and manage your Wi-Fi networks, clients and APs without any additional or separate on-premise based hardware controller infrastructure. Clients can roam seamlessly and efficiently from AP to AP residing on th...
